A Printmaker Inspired by the Wonder of Creation
“Just as the momentum of diverse symbiotic relationships ebb and flow in our natural ecosystems so also can we as a community work to appreciate and preserve our planet for generations to come."
"The natural world is a complex mystery and the more I come to know it, the more I want to make it known."
Lucinda Shelton is an American visual artist inspired by the wonder of Creation. Her work investigates the relationship between humanity and nature, focusing on how we are deeply shaped by what the natural world offers. Documented observations through photographs, drawings, and writing become the starting point to further explore design concepts that reveal what intrigues her about the experiences and discoveries that shape her unique impressions of the natural world. These impressions are then integrated into intriguing design combinations through analog and digital fusion processes. The designs become original fine art prints through various contemporary printmaking methods. Her creative expression is an opportunity to give a louder visual voice to what is silently hidden. Her work invites others to receive the pure connection creation offers, to see a little bit of that mystery and beauty illustrating that the human experience is not separate from nature, but is a continuous dialogue of receiving, reacting, and being. Her formal education includes a BA in Studio Fine Art, BA in English & BS in Visual Arts Education. She has nurtured young artists for nearly a decade as a Visual Arts educator before starting her career as a contemporary fine artist.
Her work has been juried and featured by the Visual Artists Association platforms for participation in the VAA OpenSpaces 2025 Global Art Trail via an online exhibition on her website. She was shortlisted for the 2025 VAA 500 International and is now recognized as having Preferred Artist Status by the organization which is based in London United Kingdom. She is a member of Asheville Printmakers and will be exhibiting in a group exhibition titled Persistence of Vision at the Mars Landing Arts Center on view from June 5 - July 26, 2026 in North Carolina. Her work has just recently been accepted for an international exhibition in the United Kingdom this August. Her work has been recognized, selected, and excepted into the Southern Nature Art Exhibition 2026 which is the largest independent nature art exhibition in the UK and attracts artists from across the country. SNA sees thousands of visitors over 4 days every August bank holiday at the beautiful venue Rookesbury Park, surrounded by gorgeous views of the British countryside. @southernnatureartexhibition .
Her work was exhibited at the VOLO Climate Correction Conference 2025 & 2024 and The 2024 Citizens' Climate Education Southeast Regional Conference: A Community- Centered Climate Future Art Show.

The Immersion Series: Translating The Underwater Experience
This new body of work is a visual interpretation of the exploration and feeling of immersion in the underwater world in which one becomes part of the momentum that stays perfectly spaced, never intrusive, flowing in a consistent movement of balanced harmony and free never ending motion.
All of the designs portray continuous but fixed moving patterns and forms that coexist seamlessly separate but always evolving in the vast quiet expanse as a whole.
The organic forms are minimally abstracted and not exact representations of marine life. They symbolize the effect of easy simple movement to better represent the underwater experience. Keen detailed observation did not resonate in those transformative moments but it was more like being lifted in motion swirling and watching the passing of aquatic life in all its harmony sweeping away the distractions of the world above almost like a dream state.
The visual effect of the work evokes a relaxed and calm therapeutic focus. The designs swim and weightlessly float forever suspended in a moment of visual tranquility. Contemporary expressions in original print blend with traditional methods of serigraph, relief, and intaglio to keep the work innovative and grounded. The work reflects the peaceful momentum of aquatic life and a momentary escape into serenity. My Fine art original prints provide a place for the eye to wander into a momentary escape and an opportunity to disconnect from the world long enough to just breathe.
